Yes, yes, yes, ladies & germs, 'tis the 45th birthday of the great Mr. John Christopher Depp II. And to celebrate, I've decided to start this thread! Many things will be posted here through out the night (as I think of more things to post, mostly XD). Starting us off will be a list of all of Johnny's characters (in order of movie release) with a bit of a commentary afterwards . What will follow? Who knows.... >_> <_<

Glen Lantz, A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). That's right: Johnny's first role EVER Courtesy of Mr. Nicholas Cage, who suggested Johnny try acting. THANK YOU, NICK CAGE! Ahem. Anywho. The Good: Getting sucked into your own bed, followed by a fountain of your own blood gushing out afterwards? Best death ever, plz thnx. The Bad: First movie, so the acting obviously isn't amazing. He still shone above a lot of the other cast for me, though. Also, terrible name XD The Ugly: OMG, FLUFFY HAIR. Lmao, but still lookin' good!

Jack, Private Resort (1985). The movie that was so bad, Johnny begged his fans to never watch it. Out of respect for this wish, it is one of only two of his movies that I haven't seen. Therefore, the commentary shall be brief. The Good: It's Johnny Depp. The Bad: Apparently a terrible movie The Ugly: Not a whole lot. He's absolutely adorable on the cover here.

Private Gator Lerner, Platoon (1986) Yes, Johnny Depp was in Platoon. For a grand total of... about 45 seconds, if we're lucky. His character was apparently originally one of the stars. The entire cast was dragged through a rigorous, months-long hardcore bootcamp, put through Hell and hardships, only for all of their parts to be cut XD. For this reason, I have never watched more of Platoon than those 45-ish seconds. The Good: It was worth the hell. Look at him. Wow. The Bad: As a result of his part getting cut, Johnny was terrified of attending his own movie premieres for the longest time. Still is. (However, this means more autographs tend to get signed, sooo... XD) The Ugly: Having to sit through the rest of this movie to see those few seconds where Johnny actually speaks (not even in English, if I remember correctly XD). Oh dear, what were they thinking...?

Wade "Cry-Baby" Walker, Cry-Baby (1990) 1990 was a busy year for dear Johnnykins, and he kicks it off with a bang. Cry-Baby is, as far as I'm concerned, one of Johnny's most entertaining films ever. Best part is, there's now a hit Broadway musical based on said film, which is nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Musical. YAY! The Good: Oh gosh, where do I start? It's horribly campy and cheesy, but it's so entertaining. The songs are catchy and awesome, and Johnny really shines. I suppose I'll go with my favourite song for The Good section, Doin' Time For Bein' Young. Rock on, Johnny! The Bad: Johnny didn't do his own singing, which is not only very disappointing, it caused a lot of irritation and confusion with people when Sweeney Todd was coming out XD The Ugly: Hatchet-face. LMAO.

Officer Tom Hanson, 21 Jump Street (1987 - 1990) Sorry, Johnny. But 21 Jump Street has to be one of my favourite TV shows ever created. Nothing beats the feeling of finishing your homework for the night and knowing that you get to see Johnny Depp (along with his amazing co-stars) set out on another ridiculous adventure. Instead of waiting months, even years, at a time for something new with Johnny, we got a new show every night. Definately one of the greatest time periods of my life. The Good: Where do I start? Hanson has to be one of my favourite Johnny characters. Orpheus 3.3 is one of the greatest episodes of any TV series ever made. And don't forget the amazing co-stars. Penhall was always amazing, and Ioki was just adorable. Not to mention Hoffs and Fuller. Catchy theme song, too. Also, one of my favourite moments ever: Penhall, Ioki, Fuller, Sal and Hanson, all playing Poker with cards stuck to their foreheads. Classic! The Bad: The classic cheesy-ness you expect from anything made in the '80s. Not to mention that this show pretty much killed Johnny for the longest time. The Ugly: Plans for a movie remake. Please, anything but that.

Edward Scissorhands, Edward Scissorhands (1990) Oh, Edward. Possibly Johnny's most famous movie (not counting Pirates and stuff...), this was the moment people sat up and said "wow, the Depp kid can act" (Actually, that was Orpheus 3.3, but who cares, really? ). The Good: One of my favourite aspects of Edward Scissorhands has always been the irony behind it. Imagine not only being born the same year (only months before) your favourite movie was released, but sharing a name with the lead character. Imagine, then, being absolutely terrified of seeing this movie, then finally watching it and loving it (similar to how Kim was terrified of Edward, but ended up loving him ) I could go on for hours about all the reasons why I love this movie, but the parallels between Kim and I will always be one of the best. The Bad: I can never seem to get through this movie in one sitting. I've seen it so many times that I end up getting bored half-way through if I've already watched it within the last couple of months. As much as I love it, I think I've had too much of a good thing The Ugly: Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...... you've got me.

I'm not going to make a full post for it, as it was only a cameo, but...
The Man on TV, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)
Hahaha, yessss.
The Good: Johnny's credited as Oprah Noodlemantra. Yeah. XD 'Nuff said.
The Bad: Only a cameo
The Ugly: "Noodlemantra" is an unfortunate name, perhaps?

Sam, Benny & Joon (1993) *Sigh* Is there any greater movie? Ever? No? That's what I thought. The Good: The park scene. Wow. The Bad: Another one I've seen so many times that I'm sick of it. But I could really go for a viewing of it right about now... The Ugly: Lots of sad parts

Gilbert Grape, What's Eating Gilbert Grape? (1993) I'm pretty sure I cried watching this movie. A lot. It's also the second in the never-ending list of Johnny films that feature a lead female character named after one of my friends XD. This movie's model is the "Becky" The Good: Leonardo Decaprio is adorable. Johnny is amazing. The plot is fantastic. This movie is amazing. The Bad: I haven't seen it in years, so I barely remember anything of it The Ugly: I bought the DVD only a couple weeks before the special edition came out! RAWR.

Ed Wood, Ed Wood (1994) Hahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa!!!! Oh, Johnny XD. No comment, dear The Good: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA XD. The Bad: The only one of Tim Burton's movies I haven't been able to watch all the way through XD. The Ugly: ...That sweater's pretty bad. Lol.

Don Juan, Don Juan de Marco (1995) Oh, gosh. I'm pretty sure my brain exploded watching this movie. So gorgeous. So amazing. So sweet. GAH! I need to watch it now... The Good: What isn't? The Bad: ...I honestly can't think of anything The Ugly: Not a whole lot, believe me

Gene Watson, Nick of Time (1995) Oooh, I love this movie. The Good: Christopher Walken. The Plot. The sheer awesomeness of it all. The Bad: Took me a while to get into it. The Ugly: The movie cover. It's boring. But still quite pretty...
